Biography of Maurice Béjart
Maurice Béjart was a French dancer and choreographer who revolutionized the traditional perception of ballet.
Born to a Kurdish-Turkish father and a Catalan mother, Béjart's diverse heritage had a profound impact on his artistic career. He began studying choreography in 1941 and made his debut in the ballet company of the Marseille Opera in 1944.
Wanting to further develop his creative style, Béjart continued his education with renowned teachers such as L. Stats, L.N. Egorova, Madame Ruzan in Paris, and V. Volkova in London, mastering various choreographic techniques.
In the early stages of his career, Béjart performed with different ballet companies, including those led by R.
